I know that Dave has a road still to go to complete healing but today, as people (from all over the world) prayed, some of whom don’t even know the Crewe-Brown family, I – again from the sidelines – witnessed the power of praying people.  Today has been a testimony to God’s grace & goodness.  To those of you who read this blog & prayed today, thank you.  When we pray together, we become part of something larger than ourselves.  God is at work and, as we pray, we join God in his work.  Now, that’s exciting.

Today’s events, and the testimony that screams through those events, are best narrated by Samantha, Dave’s wife.  Her Facebook status updates tell a God-story and also enabled us to pray effectively and intentionally.  As you read this “diary” of today’s events, merely copied & edited from Sam’s updates, celebrate with me the great God we serve.

“On my way to the hospital. will try and keep as regular updates as i can. Our church, Eastside Community church, is having a morning of prayer for David from 7am. Read Psalm 121 now. It will be a comfort for many of you as it has been for me.”

“Praying for drs lance coetzee lynn tuddhope and dawie vd merwe today. Prayin for strong n steady hands and for the presence of God in theatre….”

“David’s folks, Riaan and friends here now. Waiting in a sweet jolly kiddies ward close to theatre. They wil keep us posted as they progress.”

“Just received 1st update. Sister frm theatre says all going ok in theatre and accodin to plan. Will b a long op she says.”

“Another update. the Sister says tumour not out yet. David’s general condition is good though.”

“Another update. 4 surgeons involved.theatre nurse came out to stretch her legs and heard all going ok. Operating from his front right side because of involvement of inferior vena cava. Drs still strong. Praying and giving thanks here altogether for every update we hear.”

“David was woken up at 5am this morning w the staff singing praise and worship songs”

“Another update. Nursing sister was leaving to get doctors some snacks. She says all goin well still. Tumour not out yet. Will still be long to go. She says drs feel strong though. Still praying for those drs and Praising the Lord for progress”

“Glorious news. They r in the last stages and closing him up.”

“David is in icu. Operation finished and successful. Tumour was extensive and bigger than anticipated but it was all removed. Saw david before he was sedated. We praise His name. Doctors wonderful. So many thanks for all the prayers”

“This journey has begun. I have prayed for that.”

We serve a great God.  And yes, this journey has begun.  We trust God for complete healing.  To those of my friends who don’t know the family but prayed faithfully, thank you so much for your faithfulness.  We are family.
